XG Copper & Fiber - Today's cabling systems for tomorrow's applications

10 Gigabit/s is not a requirement for most applications today, but is an expectation for the future, especially in the Data Center environment. Organizations looking to install cabling today need to ensure that their chosen platform can support 10 Gigabit/s to enable migration to the faster data rate.

Up until recently, there was only one LAN solution for 10 Gigabit Ethernet: optical fiber. However, the 802.3an 10GBaseT application standard has now been ratified by the IEEE, and the corresponding ISO, EN and TIA cable standards are well underway.

AMP NETCONNECT in Armenia offers two XG System options for 10 Gigabit Ethernet: optical fiber and twisted pair. Each system gives you the choice to look at each option and make an informed decision based on your individual needs.

XG Copper Systems

The Tyco Electronics XG Copper solutions provide a robust and reliable infrastructure for 10GBASE-T as described in IEEE 802.3an. The cabling systems provide extended margins to the stringent requirements of ISO/IEC 11801 Edition 2.1, which ensures compliance, even in environments not optimized for high speed applications.

The XG Copper solution is based on a shielded 4 pair system, including all relevant components, to build any implementation as described in the cabling standards. Handling of screens and assurance of continuity are ensured by the patented pressure cable screen clamp which guarantee an optimized connection between cable and connector screen, regardless of which cable is used. Tyco Electronics 4 point screen connection in the RJ45 connection ensures optimized connections between plug and jack. Together care has been taken to optimize the protective layer of screens throughout the complete installation, providing the end-user with the highest performance of any 10GBASE-T compliant system.

AMPNETCONNECT TWIST XG connectors are designed in the SL format used widely for all Tyco Electronics connectors. Termination is carried out with the patented quick termination technology AWC, which provides the fastest termination of a screened connector within the industry.

XG Fiber Optic System

The Tyco Electronics XG Fiber Optic System provides a flexible and robust solution for 10GBASE-SR/SW as described in IEEE 802.3. The cabling system offers extended margins for optical fiber systems specified in the ISO/IEC 11801 Edition 2.1, which ensures compliance to the standard, even with more connectors than specified by the applications.

The XG Fiber Optic solution is based on OM3 fibers terminated with LC, SC, MT-RJ or MPO connectors, which provide the widest selection of fiber optical connecting hardware. The fiber optical cable are measured against both laser and LED launch conditions, enabling it to support all existing and future applications for multimode fibers. Combined with the patented Optimized Physical Contact technology for connecting hardware, ensuring controlled physical contact between fiber optic connectors, the system provides the highest margins available of any multimode fiber optical system.

AMPNETCONNECT XG Fiber Optic connectors offer a wide range of termination technologies, including the innovative LightCrimp Plus and RecordSplice methods of terminating optical fibers. Also Plug&Go systems for fastest possible installation, utilizing pre-terminated MPO cable assemblies and transition cassettes to almost any connector, are available.
